Rowena Reynolds MAPS PACFA MACBS

Rowena is a registered psychologist and clinical counsellor who is driven by a sound belief in the worth of humanity. Her approach to therapy is both humanistic and existential, which allows Rowena to take a positive approach that applauds human capacities and aspirations whilst concurrently grappling with limitations and difficulties. Rowena utilises the biopsychosocial model, viewing her clients holistically and considering the full range of psychological, biological and sociocultural influences that impact the client. At the heart of her work is a very concrete understanding of the importance of a therapeutic relationship built on trust, congruence, empathy and unconditional positive regard.

Rowena employs a range of evidence-based therapies and strategies, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She utilises the concepts of CBT to assist clients in understanding how their thoughts, feelings, values, and behaviours impact their reality and seeks to help clients reclaim freedom regarding their responses. In addition Rowena uses Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) as it emphasises the importance of self-acceptance and allows scope to investigate the origins of emotional disturbance. Rowena also has extensive training in Narrative Therapy and Reality Therapy.

Rowena brings with her a solid understanding of the tenets of sound therapeutic practice and is very passionate about therapy being grounded in good practice that prioritises the well-being of each individual client. Her breadth of experience working with people from all walks of life has also sharpened her awareness of the need for acceptance regarding all areas of diversity and difference, especially if those differences lead to discrimination for the client.
